Texting while Driving... Guilty

Double X has a few different pieces centered around the "Texting while Driving" debate... or... not so much debate as outcry. I agree that texting while driving is probably a really stupid idea, as well as extremely dangerous. It was interesting to hear Emily Yoffee cite that texting while driving is on par with driving while drunk. I can't argue. A friend of mine got in a car-totaling accident because the driver of the man behind her was engaged in texting.

So, if I agree that it's extremely dangerous and stupid and that my focus is incredibly compromised when I do it, why do I text while driving? I can't really answer that in a way that gets me off the hook. Honestly, I'm used to immediate gratification... I don't wait to wait. I get bored with my drive. Something funny happens.

These are all ridiculous reasons to endanger myself and my fellow drivers (who are probably reasonable waiting until they're stopped to do their texting).

Will I stop? We can hope. But, I'm a texting addict so I'm not sure my chances for success are high.
